When the Sprouses began building their dream home, they scheduled an appointment at Homestead Furniture to get quality furniture that reflected them. There was no need to settle for less. They had their hearts set on several specific elements and weren’t sure if they would find a way to get them made:
A round table, large enough to seat their family of ten.
Specific leather and fabric for their upholstered furniture.
A bar area and pub tables for their pool room that weren’t mixed and matched from different stores.
But, with Homestead’s custom capabilities, their goals were easily attained. During her interview, Cecilia Sprouse said, “The day they brought the furniture, I walked in and I cried. It just far exceeded my expectations…” The Sprouses received everything they were looking for in one easy visit to Homestead. Whether you’re filling your whole home like the Sprouses, or have a specific piece you’re looking for, our design consultants will get you there.
We head back out to the showroom to pick our slab. LaVern excitedly shows us five or six pieces that will work with our size specifications, each one vastly different than the next in wood species, color, grain pattern and shape. The last one we come to it is a smooth, medium-brown walnut slab with one or two fist-sized knots and a thin, bark-lined crack running down one side. I know immediately this is the one I want, and looking at Grant's face, I can tell he agrees. The slab is carefully laid down, measured and taped up to simulate where cuts will be made and legs attached. Next we move on to the iconic color wall lined with hundreds of artfully arranged samples in every shade imaginable. For our purposes, we're shown a drawer full of metal plates in various textures and hues. To keep the base simple and timeless, we pick a smooth, matte black steel, thinking the cold, industrial metal will contrast beautifully with the warm, organic wood top. When we're happy with how it looks, all that's left to do is cross some t's and dot some i's. LaVern fills us in on all the final details like the eight to 10-week estimated production time, white-glove delivery service and who to contact with any questions.
When Tina and Garth purchased their first home, they needed some truly unique accents to make it complete. The couple wanted more than just stunning design — they wanted furniture that was also functional for their lifestyle. Maybe the most impressive piece from the couple’s project is their custom dining table. This large table features a live edge top inlaid with bird carvings and an intricate metal base. Along with the table, the couple selected conversation-starting mixed media chairs unlike anything Homestead had previously designed. The couple especially loved that their dreams were able to become reality with Homestead’s ‘never say no’ policy — there wasn’t one item that couldn’t be completely customized for their new home.
When Natalie and Charlie came to Homestead, their dining room had actually sat empty for a whole year because they hadn’t been able to find the perfect table to fill it. The couple worked with a Homestead designer to customize their table using the Color Lab and upholstery library. The end result was a dining table that matched the couple’s vision for their home perfectly. The couple says that it really brings the whole house together.
Linda & Bob came to Homestead after losing nearly all of their furniture in a house flood. As they refurnished their home, they needed the perfect kitchen table. Working with a Homestead designer, the couple built a completely custom table and chose the perfect style, wood, and stain for their kitchen. Because of Homestead’s ability to customize every build, the couple also selected completely custom chairs to match the table. Bob and Linda are thrilled with their table and plan to use Homestead again as they continue to refurnish their home.
Fred needed the perfect set of bar stools to go with a pub style table. Specifically, he was looking for a bar stool that swiveled and had the perfect design for his home. We showed them the Windsor Set, and they fell in love. We discussed color options and they selected their favorite style that perfectly matches their space. When their friends come to visit, they rave about the Hendricks’ new pub set.
Tom and Sabrina came to Homestead looking for the perfect dining set to complete their new home. They were looking for a specific size that they weren’t able to find in other stores. The design they selected was our 72” Kenton Table and six Brentwood Chairs. The couple also chose our Simsbury Buffet and customized it to the size they needed and added a 32” lazy Susan feature.
The couple recently moved South and love the way their new furniture fits their brand new home.
Kidron had a clear vision for the dining table he wanted. The Crist family spends a lot of time around their table — they even have a house rule of ‘no cell phones during meals’ — so it was important that they find a dining table that was durable and able to extend to fit guests.
Kidron ultimately selected the Sydney Table with 10 leaves that allow the table to extend up to 15 feet when all leaves are used. The table is made from sturdy hickory hardwood, so it will withstand everyday use and still look great. Kidron loved the clean lines of this table along with the trendy finish — and it is perfect for large family gatherings.
After an accident where a car ran into her building, ruining a set of display cabinets, Lynn was in need of replacement cabinets. She needed cabinets that could showcase her items but have the flexibility of adjustable shelves.
Lynn selected our Eyeglass Display Cabinets in a lovely creamy white. The shelves are lit, making it easy to see all of the items displayed, and all of the shelves are adjustable, so they can fit Lynn’s exact needs. Her customers have also taken note of her new shelves and often give her compliments about the design.
John and Lynn came to Homestead looking for a kitchen island that would compliment their new kitchen and match their existing countertops. They found our IS 86 Island Base, which they chose to create in hickory with a stunning HD finish from our Color Lab. We were able to design custom drawers for optimal storage and added Italian glass hardware for the finishing touch.
The couple was excited to see how well their new island fit in their kitchen. The countertops matched perfectly, and the white undertones of the island base complimented their sparkling white cabinets.
Ed and Terri were looking for a specific plank style for their dining table. The trouble they were running into was finding the planked look they loved in the size that they needed. The couple spotted our Marie’s Settler table and immediately said, “This is it.”
We were able to provide the colors Ed and Terri wanted, with the right amount of distressing, which created their perfect dining table. We paired their table with White Galveston Chairs and a Cape Ann Bench for optimal seating. The couple is thrilled to have a quality dining set that was the finishing touch to their home.
Howard and Julie were looking for a unique desk and table solution that fit with the theme of their Florida home. The couple saw our beautiful Elm Live Edge Slab with an Ocean Blue finish on it, and fell in love. Once they selected the slab of wood they liked, we custom designed a desk, dining table, and chairs around the slab so that the room would have a beautiful flow.
We were able to help Howard and Julie customize their set by adding metal slats in the chairs and helping them select the right colors to create a cohesive set. The couple loves that their set is completely unique and nobody else will have a piece quite like theirs. The table, desk, and chairs have become a conversation piece when family and friends visit.
Pat was looking for the perfect table for the dining room. We customized our Williamsburg Table to measure 108” long, with two 16” breadboard pull-out leaves. We used a beautiful medium brown color to add warmth and depth to the dining room, and the table pairs perfectly with our Cosmos Chairs in Cryton.
"By the way, did you see the cabinet/TV stand in the background? My basic design with your Homestead tweaking! I get comments on it all the time. Now have table, chairs, TV stand and original piece you did for me all in the same room. All blend. All get comments. Then I drag people into the master bedroom to show them the headboard and bookshelf you all made for us. I'm a Homestead gal!!!!"
"Here is a picture of everything. Thanks for your help."
Chad was looking for a perfect dining table to fit in his space. Homestead created a 48" wide by 80" long custom maple hardwood table along with two custom nook storage benches. This dining set is accented with Windsor #10130 side chairs.
Chad’s family also was looking for beautiful counter-height chairs to match the rest of his dining area. Homestead created our 24” Hudson Counter Chairs in maple with a soft brown finish to tie the kitchen area together.
Lou and Brenda wanted a live-edge wooden bar for their home. Homestead constructed this stunning piece from the Gateway Tree, a state record black walnut tree from Missouri. The base of the bar features a rail that was handmade by a third generation blacksmith.
Homestead created this stunning custom dining table for Lou & Brenda from the same Gateway Tree (black walnut) that was used to construct their bar. The table is large enough to seat 12 guests comfortably and overlooks Lou & Brenda’s beautiful waterfront landscape. The base of the table is a custom Woodland base that was handmade by a third generation blacksmith and features a hand-hammered finish with a beeswax color. The wooden chairs surrounding the table are Homestead’s OW Shaker style.
Brian was looking for a unique custom desk. Homestead created this modern Geometric hardwood desk for him in high gloss white. Each leg has unique angles and the desk is outfitted with a sap walnut natural filing cabinet. The desk measures 134” long by 32” deep and 30” high.
We customized our Times Square Dining table for Laura and her family by adding burnishing and distressed details. It is made from rich hickory hardwood and measures 42” by 72” and comes with two 12” leaves for additional seating. Laura also selected our tapered 24” bar stools to help tie her spaces together beautifully.
